Cliff and I visited what is left of Gibellina, Sicily on a July afternoon in 1999.
It was 47 centigrade in the shade. No breeze.
The earthquake destroyed the whole village in 1968.
The artist Alberto Burri buried half the ruins in concrete, retaining the line of the streets, covering the blocks of houses to about six feet.
Here is a photo of the steps in the middle ground before that January morning.

Dear Michael
I am asking if i could have permission to use your photo of the earthquake memorial in my new book on artists and architecture.
If so , I would need a high resolution electronic copy (4MB?)
Please send me a note.
Thank you
