Nearly 3 million visitors come to the archaeological zone to see the pyramids and monumental stepped-temple complexes lining the front side of the avenue of the dead. The most visited archaeological site in Mexico's all-important archaeo-tourism industry, Teotihuacan has always been the proving ground for INAH's historical development of 'reconstruction over preservation' policies.
