Refrigerator #2

Nevera1.jpg

:INSTALLATION: :REFRIGERATOR:
:2005:

This installation shows, through a large size photograph, the discovery of an abandoned refrigerator in a natural environment. In front of the image, the same refrigerator, back from oblivion, is transformed into a sculpture, following a classic procedure of archaeological reconstruction.
This domestic object, which became essential from the mid-20th century, is key to understanding the consumerism that characterizes our society. It is thus presented as a stimulus for reflecting on our material culture and its relationship with landscape. The object that has been thrown away is transmuted into a relevant and ancestral memento.
